Sailing on Lake of Garda

The twenty two daily winds (one is Peler wind, that in the morning is blowing from North to South, the other is Ora wind that blows in the afternoon in the opposite direction, from March to October), the moderate waves, the presence of many ports and a ban on motor boats for the Trento side of the lake, made the sailboat as the most widely used and appreciated means of navigation on Lake of Garda.
The water-sail combination was a strong point for tourism's development in the lake, and today it has become the most representative image.
A unique panorama that you cannot miss is the one that you can see coming down the road from Nago to Torbole: blue sky, mountains that plunge into the blue water crossed by a lot of boats, catamarans with colorful sails that are in competition with windsurfers that rush next to their hips.
The many regattas are equally exciting, some of them are even at a worldly level, and they take place during the summer in several places on the lake. One of the most well known regatta is the one called Centomiglia, which starts from Gargano and goes far and wide throughout the lake and which various classes of boats can participate to, even a free prototype designed and built just for this event.
